Speech Pathology asessment establishes the level and capacity to communicate. In liaison with an Occupational Therapist trained in the area of accessing (switches, eye gaze and the like) the most suitable communication devices for the client can be determined. This usually requires multiple trials.
Clients may have several communication devices according to their needs in time and place, both high and low tech. High tech may comprise of sophisticated voice output, pre-programmable, autonomous communication aids; low tech may be a simple communication board consisting of words and/or pictures.
